Each price is from the company's own pricing page on the date shown, in its own currency; we do not convert. A page we could not read is marked could not read, and a page that asks for a quote is marked quote only. Prices can differ by country.
What pushes the price up
- 1 of the 6 we could read shows a quote request instead of a price.
- 1 of the 6 we could read offers a free plan, and 5 offer a time-limited trial.
- 1 of the 6 we could read states a setup, hardware or licence cost on top of the monthly price (the notes below say which).
What to know about each price
- Planning Center: Paid products are priced by usage (team members, donations, attendees) with no contract or setup fee, billed monthly (a help page also mentions an annual option).
- Tithely: Free Giving has no monthly fee but takes card fees of 2.9% + $0.30 (1% + $0.30 on bank transfers, 3.5% + $0.30 on American Express).
- ChurchTrac: Every feature is in every tier and no per-user fee appears on the page. Online giving uses Stripe's discounted nonprofit rate, and the website build and accounting setup are optional one-time costs.
- Church Social: Billed as one yearly invoice, with no setup costs and no contracts. Mission churches and church plants are told to ask for special pricing.
- ChurchSuite: Priced by the number of contacts and the number of modules (1 to 10).
- Church Community Builder (Pushpay): Contracts run 1, 2 or 3 years, and cancelling early means paying the rest of the contract. Payment is by automatic ACH, monthly or annually, and the page says there are no setup fees.
What to look for in churches software
People, rosters and giving for a church, so the roster does not live in a group chat and giving receipts are not a year-end scramble.
A tool for churches has to fix these:
- Rosters by text message.
- Giving receipts at year end.
- People records in several lists.
Our price
We have not set a price for ours: there is nothing built to sell yet, and the price will be on the page before anyone pays. What we plan to build: churches.
Questions
About the price
What is the cheapest church management software?
Prices are in the currency each page names and are not ranked across currencies: 1 in A$, at A$18 a month; 1 in US$, at US$60 a month; 3 with no currency named. The lowest price is often the plan with the fewest features, so check what each includes.
Why do prices differ so much?
Mostly who is counted and what is included: per user or per seat, the number of jobs or products, payment processing, and setup.
Can it issue giving receipts?
Planned: a receipt per gift and a year-end statement. Rules on tax receipts differ, so they would be checked first.
How do rosters work?
Planned: a roster per team, with each volunteer asked and a swap recorded.
Is it private?
Not decided. Religious affiliation is sensitive information, so before anything is built we will say where the data is stored and who can see it.
