We do not convert currencies. A page we could not read is marked could not read, a page that asks for a quote is marked quote only, and the reasons are listed below the table. Pages can show different prices to visitors in different countries. A price with no currency named is shown with the sign the page used; it may be the United States version or the one for the country the page assumed we were in, so check the page you are sent to.

What pushes the price up

  • 3 of the 12 charge per user, or for extra users, on at least one plan, so the price grows with the team.
  • 3 of the 12 offer a free plan, and 9 offer a time-limited trial.

Who each one is for

Taken from what each company's own page says it is for.

  • Zoho Books: Startups and small businesses, with the free plan meant for those earning under A$50K a year.
  • FreshBooks: Freelancers, the self-employed and businesses with contractors or employees, going by the page's own filter labels.
  • Xero: self-employed people, small businesses and mid-sized businesses (the page has a tab for each), with payroll for 2 to 100 people depending on the plan.
  • Wave: Small business owners at every stage, from those starting out with the basics to those wanting a more polished setup and help with cash flow.
  • Invoice2go: Service businesses just starting out (Starter) through to businesses with more than $100k a year in revenue (Premium).
  • Bonsai: Freelancers through to enterprise teams, with agencies and consultancies named as its users.
  • MYOB: businesses that need standalone payroll for up to 4 employees (Payroll Only), or an accounting plan with payroll added or included.
  • Reckon One: Australian small businesses; the page says Reckon One is built for Australian small business compliance.

What to know about each price

  • MYOB: Every plan shows an introductory price first and a higher regular price after the offer period. Payroll is an extra $3 per employee per month on Lite and Pro and is included on AccountRight Plus; the page says payroll prices change from 1 November 2026 without giving the new figures.
  • Hnry: No subscription or plan tiers: the fee is taken from each payment into the Hnry account, and the page says there is no fee to stop using Hnry. Card payments can carry small processing fees, and filing tax years from before joining costs a small fee that the page does not quantify.
  • Zoho Books: Priced per organisation and shown on annual billing only; users beyond those included cost A$3.30 per user per month billed annually (A$4.40 on monthly billing, per the FAQ).
  • FreshBooks: Team members cost extra on Lite, Plus and Premium: the page shows $16 a month per user on the plan cards but $11 in its comparison tables, and Advanced Payments is $28 on the cards but $20 in the tables (add-on amounts carry no currency label). Payroll is a further $40 a month plus $6 per user.
  • Xero: Payroll is included in each priced plan for a fixed number of people (2, 5 or 10), and the page says extra charges may apply if more people are paid, invoiced monthly with no amounts shown. New Australian customers get 80% off for the first 3 months, and all prices include GST.
  • Wave: Starter is free but card payments cost 2.9% + $0.60 each, and Pro lowers that for the first ten payments a month. Payroll is an extra from $25 or $40 a month (the page does not map these to plans).
  • Invoice2go: Plans are capped by invoices a year, not by users, since every plan allows unlimited team members. The page shows yearly totals with 16% off on the annual offer, and the only fees besides the plan are card payment fees (3.5% on Starter, 3% on Professional, 2.9% on Premium), with no setup fee.
  • Bonsai: Priced per user (the page labels it seat price), and Elite needs at least 3 users; a reduced rate is mentioned for teams of 30 or more, with no amount shown. Online payment fees vary by method with no amounts on the page, and onboarding is included on Elite and offered to teams of 10 or more.
  • Reckon One: Unlimited users on every plan with a cancel anytime badge, and payroll is sold in separate tiers at prices the page does not show.

What to check before you pay

  • Whether payroll, GST or VAT filing and bank feeds are in the price or paid add-ons.
  • Free plans often cap invoices, bills or users. Check the cap against your month.
  • Whether your accountant or bookkeeper already uses it, which is worth more than any feature.
  • Local rules. Tax, super and reporting differ by country, so a product built for one may suit another badly.

What we do about accounting and invoicing software

We do not sell accounting software. What we build connects to it, so invoices, stock values and costs flow to the product you already use. In StockRoom today that connection is marked coming and cannot be switched on yet.
