AI Email Marketing FAQ: Everything You Need to Know
Quick answers to the most common questions about AI Email Marketing — the email marketing platform built into Custom AI Dashboard.
What is AI Email Marketing?
AI Email Marketing is a complete email marketing platform built directly into Custom AI Dashboard. It supports one-time campaigns, multi-step drip sequences, reusable templates with merge tags, multiple sender identities, open and click tracking, bounce and complaint handling, and a global suppression list. Tightly integrated with AI Leads Manager so every send is logged on the recipient's activity timeline.
How much does it cost?
AI Email Marketing is included in your Custom AI Dashboard subscription. There are no per-contact fees, no per-send fees, and no premium-only features. Send to as many recipients as you have.
How is it different from Mailchimp / ConvertKit / ActiveCampaign?
Two main differences. First, no contact-based pricing — your bill stays flat as your list grows. Second, native CRM integration — leads in AI Leads Manager are automatically your email contacts, and every send is logged on their timeline.
How is the email actually sent?
Sends are routed through Resend, which is a modern transactional and marketing email API with strong deliverability. DKIM, SPF, and DMARC alignment are handled automatically. Bounces and complaints are processed via webhooks and added to the global suppression list.
How long does setup take?
About 10 minutes. Add a sender (from email + from name + reply-to), verify the domain (DNS records for DKIM), build a template, pick recipients, send.
Can I import contacts from another platform?
Yes. Export from Mailchimp / ConvertKit / ActiveCampaign / HubSpot to CSV, then either upload via the recipient picker (one-time campaigns) or import as leads in AI Leads Manager for use across all sequences and campaigns.
What is the difference between a campaign and a sequence?
A campaign is a one-time send to a chosen list — for example, a monthly newsletter or a product announcement. A sequence is a multi-step automation triggered by an event (lead created, tag added, status changed, or manual enrolment) that fires over hours, days, or weeks — for example, a 5-email new-lead nurture series.
How many steps can a sequence have?
Up to 50. Each step has a delay (in minutes), a template, an optional subject override, and an optional condition (coming soon).
What merge tags are available?
Eight built-in merge tags: {{first_name}}, {{last_name}}, {{full_name}}, {{email}}, {{company}}, {{job_title}}, {{city}}, {{country}}. They pull from the lead record automatically.
Can I send transactional emails (order confirmations, receipts, password resets)?
Yes. Use the email-marketing API endpoint with recipient and template_id parameters. Each transactional send still logs to the event feed and respects the suppression list.
What about A/B testing?
Yes — subject-line A/B testing on campaigns. Pick two subjects, set a split percentage, and the system sends both, picks the winner by open rate, and rolls out the winner to the rest of the list.
How are unsubscribes handled?
Every campaign and sequence email gets a one-click unsubscribe link automatically. Unsubscribes go to a global suppression list with the source recorded (user_link / bounce / complaint / manual / import). Suppressed addresses are excluded from all future sends.
How are bounces and complaints handled?
Resend webhooks deliver bounce and complaint events. Hard bounces and complaints are auto-added to the suppression list. Soft bounces are retried per Resend's defaults.
Can I have multiple sender identities?
Yes. Add as many senders as you need — different from-addresses for different brands, departments, or use cases. Mark one as default.
Is there an API?
Yes. The full set of email-marketing endpoints (campaigns, sequences, templates, senders, suppressions) is available under /api/email-marketing/* for programmatic use.
Will sends appear on my CRM lead records?
Yes. Every send to a lead in AI Leads Manager is logged on the lead's activity timeline automatically as an "email" activity with subject, timestamp, and (eventually) open / click metadata.
What about GDPR and CAN-SPAM compliance?
One-click unsubscribe link on every campaign, global suppression list, source tracking, and full export of suppression data. Sender identities require a verifiable from-domain. Nothing prevents you from being non-compliant if you ignore best practice — but the platform makes compliance the default path.
What happens if my domain has no DKIM set up?
Sends will go out but deliverability suffers — Gmail and Outlook may mark messages as "via resend.dev" or move them to spam. Set up DKIM during sender verification (Resend gives you DNS records to add) and deliverability returns to normal.
How do I see my campaign's results?
Open the campaign in the Campaigns tab. The dashboard shows recipients, sent, delivered, opened (open rate), clicked (click rate), bounced, complained, and unsubscribed. Per-recipient detail is available via the recipients tab.
Where do I sign up?
Open Custom AI Dashboard. AI Email Marketing is on the sidebar under "Business." If you do not have an account yet, sign up for the dashboard and you are in.
